Chronic Pain

Growls at my insides

Beast with a thousand fingers

Keeping me from doing things

That I love.

It is a constant reminder

Of my mortality

But I have a secret

I will push it back

I will press on

Finish my course

Fulfill my destiny.

Chronic pain is but a moment

On my walk through eternity

It will not win
