Ghosts

For Kathy, Jenni, and Julie.

Do they get lonely?

Miss the human touch?

They made enough noise

At our old house made all of redwood

First we were skeptical

Such things can’t be

But soon we were believers

As toilets flushed themselves

Things began to disappear

Then reappear

Wallets, money, my wife’s makeup

What does a ghost do with makeup?

A hot time in SpiritVille was had by all

Then there was the Glenn Miller music

Laughter and the sound of clinking glass

Two AM smells of baking bread and cookies

Filling the house then Presto

No food waiting for us

At least they could have left one cookie

For all the sleepless nights

Doesn’t that seem fair?
