The Exposed Writer
Being a writer is like having all your secrets exposed. Like giving an important talk to thousands of people butt naked.
It is the worst kind of exposure because it’s your heart that’s hanging out there. You send out your manuscript hoping someone cares about what you spent months maybe even years trying to say.
If you are a writer you are exposed.
Get used to it.
There is no easy way to hide out if you want to succeed, you have to put your work out there.
Believe me I know it’s hard. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve chickened out and made excuses.
In fact I’ve probably used every excuse there is from the excuse play book.
But excuses don’t get you published, excuses don’t do anything but make your life miserable.
Trust me on this I know what I’m talking about.
So what to do?
Expose yourself. Not literally of course, but send out your books, your stories, articles, plays, whatever it is you write that makes you a standout.
What have you got to lose?
Nothing.
What have you got to gain?
Everything!
