Window On The Soul

Cold hand

Clamps down

I refuse the rictus

Handshake

For now

There is a window

On my soul

Sunlight leaks

Out

Optimism grows

On soil

As hard as

East Texas plains

The window

Shines

In dark places

Hope remains

Eternal.
